The opportunity
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to join our national Finance team. You’ll be at the heart of the firm's operations, ensuring payments are made in best-practice financial control, with a very fast-paced environment. You'll get to play a key role supporting Partners, lawyers, and our corporate services teams and keep the AP function running smoothly.
You'll be busy with
- processing 60–80 invoices daily with 24–48 hr turnaround targets
- managing expense claims and ensure accurate coding to the general ledger, disbursement types, and matter numbers
- working with advanced finance systems including Aderant and invoice automation tools
- ensuring compliance with GST/ATO requirements, procurement rules, and firm policies
- preparing daily payment runs (EFT, BPAY, international transfers) and reconcile supplier statements
- acting as a key contact for suppliers, resolving queries quickly and professionally
- collaborating closely with Partners, practice groups, and corporate service teams to keep approvals moving
- upholding strong internal controls, approval workflows, and expenditure policies
- contributing to accounts payable projects and support staff with finance queries
To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have
- from 2 + years’ experience in an Accounts Payable or accounts role, within a professional, high-volume environment.
- strong understanding of AP processes, GST requirements, and invoice compliance standards.
- experience using finance or practice management systems (Aderant advantageous)
- high attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- excel competency for reconciliations.
- familiarity with AP automation tools
- understanding of trust accounting rules for legal disbursements.
