The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Research Services Manager to establish and lead research services across our practice groups. This role is pivotal in ensuring our lawyers are equipped to utilise high-quality legal and business research resources. You'll have a strategic mindset, a passion for legal research, excellent leadership, and collaboration skills.
You'll be busy with
- developing and implementing the research strategy including establishing effective processes and tools to enhance service quality and efficiency
- interacting with our legal teams to understand their research and current awareness needs and proactively identify key areas for investment and capability development
- developing and delivering a comprehensive research training program to enhance the research capability of our legal staff
- acting as the go-to contact for legal publishers ensuring we invest effectively and strategically in content and tools
- advising on complex legal and business research to support client matters and business development
- staying on top of industry trends and emerging legal issues to keep the firm informed and competitive
To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have
- a degree in information management, library sciences, or related field
- ideally 7 + experience in legal research, with at least two years in a management or senior role
- strong understanding of Australian legal systems, resources, and databases
- proficiency in using legal research platforms
- experience evaluating research products and negotiating with legal publishers
- exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
