About us

HWL Ebsworth is Australia’s largest and fastest growing legal partnership, with offices in every state and territory in Australia. Our Melbourne Construction & Infrastructure practice group has 12 partners and over 30 lawyers practising in sectors including both front end and contentious work in major social and economic infrastructure projects such as road, rail, health and Defence projects, built environment, energy and resources.

The opportunity

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious senior back-end construction lawyer to join our Construction and Infrastructure team, reporting primarily to contentious partners Jonathan McTigue and Lisa Vo.

Jonathan and Lisa are trusted advisors to resources companies, tier one contractors and both State and Commonwealth governments. Their practice involves litigation, arbitration and other forms of ADR, grappling with issues including variation and extension of time claims, breach of contract, insolvency issues, misleading or deceptive conduct claims and negligence.

The role is an opportunity to work on top tier matters, collaborate with our prominent client base and assist in leading and developing our exceptional group of junior lawyers.

To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have

  • 5+ years' PAE
  • quality dispute resolution experience and a desire to specialise in construction disputes
  • strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • strong leadership skills to assist in developing our large cohort of talented and motivated junior lawyers

  • Location: Our cutting-edge office is conveniently located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD amidst a fast-pace, high-networking legal community. Enjoy working in a state-of-the-art office environment with access to modern end of trip facilities.
