The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our National IT team. You will play a critical role in providing technical and operational cyber security expertise to support the Information Security Team. Reporting to the Head of Cyber & IT Operations, the role will assist in strengthening the protection of the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Firm’s information assets and assets held on behalf of clients.

This role is not a traditional GRC role, we’re looking for a someone who is technically grounded and has evolved into risk and assurance leader over time.

 

You'll be busy with

 

  • Day to day maintenance of cyber security technologies, including email security, endpoint protection, access management, application control, vulnerability management and user access
  • Contribute to governance, risk and compliance activities, including ISO 27001, Essential Eight, and internal and external audit activities
  • Respond and address cyber security service requests and incidents
  • Drive security awareness initiatives and help build security knowledge across the firm
  • Serve as one of the main escalation points for the Security Operations Centre
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of security tools and controls in projects

 

To succeed in this role, ideally, you'll have

  • 6+ years of experience in Cyber or Information Security
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, IT, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Essential: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or equivalent
  • Ability to clearly explain cyber security concepts, risks and controls to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven experience working with recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001, Essential Eight and SOC audits
  • Hands-on experience with security tools including SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, email security, application control and privileged access management.
  • CyberArk, Microsoft E5 and Sentinel will be highly advantageous
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to support ISO 27001 and SOC 2 audits, and maintain Essential Eight maturity levels
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude, while maintaining a sense of humour
