The opportunity

HWLE Lawyers has an opportunity for a Solicitor to join one of the largest Insurance practice groups working in common law alongside Partner Joanna Apostolopoulos whose practice comprises of a variety of personal injury claims-based litigation and recovery actions. We are seeking a 2-3 year lawyer who has experience in personal injury claims. Ideally, the applicant will have experience in representing CTP insurers, employers and occupiers in common law actions.

As a key member of our firm, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills further in managing personal injury common law matters. The role offers a particular emphasis on CTP claims, though you will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in other types of common law personal injury claims. You will engage in advocacy, participate in mediations and assist with preparation of matters for trial in the Supreme Court, District Court, and Personal Injury Commission.

You'll be busy with

• direct client access
• close collaboration with Partners in a strong team environment
• supportive training and mentoring
• advising top tier clients on liability, strategy and risk management
• advocacy across multiple jurisdictions
• drafting Court documents
• negotiating commercial outcomes for clients

To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have

• 2-3+ years PAE
• experience in personal injury litigation preferably on behalf of insurers and employers.
• good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to deal with clients and other parties.
• a willingness to learn
• strategic and critical thinking capability
• appetite to mentor our junior cohort
