The opportunity
We have a unique opportunity for a dynamic and experienced candidate to join our well established Health team working with Brit Mainhoff and Leonie Beyers and their highly regarded team in the medical industry. As part of the team, you will provide legal advice to Australia's leading medical defence insurers, professional indemnity insurers, health practitioners, private hospitals and facilities, and allied health providers. You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of file types, including a range of medical negligence litigation, coronial inquests, disciplinary, employment and Medicare matters. You will be a key part of a very collegiate team who work closely together, share ideas, support one another and strive to provide a high quality service to clients.
You'll be busy with
- end to end management of claims and investigations brought against doctors, hospitals, allied health staff
- opportunity to appear in all civil jurisdictions as well as the Coroners Court, NCAT, The Medical Council of NSW and before commissions
- provision of timely and accurate written advice to insurers and insured clients
- appearance at mediations, hearings, conferences, and inquests
- direct marketing and engagement with clients
To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have
- 4-10 years PAE
- experience and expertise in medical indemnity, health, aged care and/or personal injury law for defendants preferred
- strong writing skills and ability to engage well with insurers, corporate counsel of health entities, individual practitioners and management of health clinics
- passion for medico-legal issues and claims management
- strong leadership skills to assist in developing our junior cohort
