The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate to join our Insurance (Statutory Classes) team, working with Partner Joanna Apostolopoulos and Special Counsel Carl Newton. This role is suited to a lawyer with experience in personal injury matters, ideally including acting for CTP insurers in common law claims. Experience representing employers or occupiers in personal injury matters will also be valued.

As part of the team, you will manage a caseload of CTP common law files, with the opportunity to continue developing your skills in this area. While the focus of the role is CTP work, you may also gain exposure to other insurance matters as they arise.



You'll be busy with

  • direct client access
  • close collaboration with Partners in a strong team environment
  • supportive training and mentoring
  • advising top tier clients on liability, strategy and risk management
  • advocacy across multiple jurisdictions
  • drafting court documents
  • negotiating commercial outcomes for clients

 

 

To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have

  • 4+ years PAE
  • experience in personal injury litigation preferably on behalf of insurers
  • good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to deal with clients and other parties
  • a willingness to learn
  • strategic and critical thinking capability
  • appetite to mentor our junior cohort
