About us
HWLE Lawyers is not your typical law firm. Our rapid rise to become the largest legal partnership in Australia shows that in our case, the differences are real. We deliver first class legal advice to our government and commercial clients in every state and territory across Australia. Firm wide, we have over 270 Partners and 1700 people.
The opportunity
We have an opportunity for experienced Lawyers across all levels (Solicitor, Associate or Senior Associate) to join our highly regarded Sydney Insurance Statutory Classes practice group. Led by Partners, Mersina Kikinis and Ron Galea, you will be a part of a sub-team of 7 lawyers. We act for clients (insurers and government bodies) on a diverse range of matters covering both Work Injury Damages and Statutory matters - giving our lawyers a unique exposure to a broad mix of work.
You will undertake a variety of advice-based and litigation work, including:
- reviewing files and drafting advice on liability and damages;
- conducting client consultations and conferences;
- appearing and applying your advocacy skills in the Personal Injury Commission, District Court and Supreme Court;
- drafting correspondence and letters of instruction to medical and liability experts as well as factual investigators.
You will work directly with and be mentored by Partners and senior lawyers in a genuinely open-door environment where collaboration is encouraged.
To succeed in this role, ideally you will have:
- an ability to work independently;
- experience in WID, statutory workers compensation, or broader defendant insurance work;
- strategic and critical thinking capability;
- a consultative approach to clients who value clear communication;
- strong relationship building abilities and being part of a close-knit team;
- strong drafting and analytical skills with an eye for detail.
