The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join our Health practice group alongside our recently appointed Partners Beth Altson and Angela Woodward. You’ll provide legal advice to some of Australia’s leading medical defence insurers, including those representing public and private hospitals, medical practitioners, and medical clinics, plus work with our national Health practice across other states.

You'll be busy with

• end to end management of un-litigated and litigated civil claims and regulatory investigations;
• provision of timely and accurate written advice to insurers and insured clients;
• appearance at mediations, witness interviews, inquests and disciplinary hearings; and attendance at marketing events with clients

To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have

• 2+ years PAE;
• experience in or a demonstrated passion for medical law, health or ancillary personal injury claims (defendant experience highly regarded);
• strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage well with various stakeholders including insurers, corporate counsel of health entities, individual medical practitioners and management of health clinics as well as broader members of the legal profession including the Court and opposing and co-defendant law firms; and
• motivation and appetite for collaboration and willingness to contribute to our growing team.
