HWL Ebsworth is not your typical law firm. Our rapid rise to become the largest legal partnership in Australia shows that in our case, the differences are real. We deliver first‑class legal advice to government and commercial clients in every State and Territory, supported by 1700 people including over 280 Partners.
The opportunity
We're looking for a Workday Systems Specialist to play a key role in the successful implementation, optimisation and ongoing evolution of our Workday platform.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape our people systems capability from the ground up. Working closely with People & Development, IT and our implementation partner, you'll support the delivery of Workday modules through testing, configuration, release management, enhancement development and continuous improvement activities.
Reporting to the People & Development team with a dotted-line reporting relationship to IT, this role will be instrumental in ensuring our Workday environment delivers an exceptional experience for our people while supporting the firm's growing operational needs.
You'll be busy with:
- Planning, designing, and executing test activities including functional, integration, regression, user acceptance and end‑to‑end testing.
- Partnering with our implementation provider during module deployments, validating configuration, and supporting pre‑go‑live readiness.
- Supporting and enhancing multiple modules - including Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, Compensation, Learning, Time & Attendance and Payroll.
- Configuring and deploying Workday enhancements as the firm matures in its Workday and HRIS journey.
- Troubleshooting system issues, investigating root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborating with P&D and IT to deliver a seamless, well‑governed, scalable and user friendly HRIS environment.
- Providing Workday functional expertise and best‑practice recommendations
- Supporting reporting, integrations, data quality and system documentation activities as required.
About you:
You will bring a combination of Workday expertise, testing experience and a passion for delivering practical technology solutions.
Ideally, you will have:
- Hands-on experience supporting or delivering a Workday implementation in a configuration‑focused role (exposure to multiple modules is ideal).
- Demonstrated knowledge across Core HCM, Core Compensation, Absence, Recruiting, Payroll, and Time & Attendance is advantageous.
- Experience planning and conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system testing and release validation activities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- A track record of troubleshooting system issues, analysing root causes, and implementing practical solutions.
Our offering
- A brand-new role: A rare opportunity to help shape and support a newly implemented Workday environment.
- Full exposure: Join a significant HR transformation program, with involvement in both implementation and long-term optimisation, rather than only BAU.
- Work-Life Balance: We offer flexible work arrangements to support your work-life balance.
- Location: Our offices are located in the heart of the action across Australia - genuinely integrated to interact with colleagues across the country.
- Culture: Be part of a firm renowned for its friendly and down-to-earth culture and rewarding meritocracy model.
- Prestige: Join a firm consistently ranked at the forefront of the Australian legal market, where your work is recognised nationally
