The opportunity

We are seeking a strategically minded Knowledge Counsel to lead the development and stewardship of the firm’s core legal content. This newly created role is central to enhancing the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our legal work through the creation and maintenance of high quality and standardised precedents and knowledge assets.

The Knowledge Counsel will work closely with our practice groups to define and execute knowledge strategies, support legal teams in creating, capturing and sharing know-how, and ensure alignment with the firm’s house style and drafting standards.

 

You'll be busy with

  • Content Development & Management:
    • Lead the creation, review, and ongoing refinement of the firm’s core legal content, including boilerplate clauses, precedents, and know how guides.
    • Establish and maintain HWLE house style across all legal documentation.
  • Knowledge Strategy & Projects:
    • Partner with practice groups to define their knowledge priorities and develop tailored strategies for content development and knowledge capture.
    • Support and manage knowledge-related projects, including curation processes, taxonomy development, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with lawyers across all levels to identify content gaps, gather feedback, and promote the use of standardised materials.
    • Act as a trusted advisor on legal drafting and knowledge best practices.
  • Governance & Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure our core legal content complies with regulatory requirements and reflects current legal standards.
    • Implement quality control processes for content review and approval.
  • Technology & Innovation:
    • Work with the Knowledge and IT teams to leverage technology for content management, automation, and accessibility.
    • Stay informed of legal tech trends and contribute to innovation initiatives.

 

To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have

  • Qualified lawyer with strong experience in legal drafting and content development within a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Deep understanding of legal practice and the importance of knowledge management in driving efficiency and quality.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for clear, consistent legal communication.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with legal tech platforms and content management systems is highly desirable.
